What Causes Dizziness, Extreme Fatigue And Shortness Of Breath While Having Diabetes?

I am 50 yrs old with type 2 diabetes, I had an episode of high blood sugars in the 300-400 range for a couple weeks while taking steroids. I then had 2 ER visits within a couple weeks in July with symptoms of a heart attack. Several ekg and 2 Eco cardiographs, holter device and stress test indicated no heart issues. My dr has changed my diabetes meds a couple times now and has me taking amlodipin now instead of irbizartan Hcl. I continue to have episodes of dizziness on a daily basis with extreme fatigue and episode of shortness of breath and when this happens my blood pressure spikes as much as 197/123. Symptoms are now over 2 months now with no change, any advice please? Would an endocrinologist specializing in diabetes help?

Hello Sir,
Hope you are doing good. It is a very common thing that blood sugar goes uncontrolled when you are on steroids. This happens in non-diabetic patients also. So during the period of steroid intake and few weeks to months after that, diabetic medications has to be adjusted to control them.
I am not sure why you were put on amlodipine instead of irbedartan. It would have been nice if you had mentioned about current diabetic medications, control and why you were taking steroids. It's difficult to comment on your present symptoms without knowing all the above history.
And yes an endocrine consultant will definitely help in your diabetic control. And for dizziness and shortness of breath, please have a cardiologist day opinion also. Hope the above information helps. Thanks.
