What Causes Dizziness And Palpitations While On Cardura XL?

My husband is taking 8 mg and 4 mg, alternating, of Cardura XL, for prostate problems. Blood pressure was normal when he started the Cardura. He sometimes feels a little dizzy, which we understand is probably a side effect. But about a month ago he had a racing heart for a short while (went away in seconds, not minutes). Then today he again had a racing heart and went to lay down, but it continued for about 10 minutes. What is causing this (what s happening to the heart?) and how soon does he need to see a doctor about it (emergency basis or just within the week)?

Hello,

Cardura xl may lead to postural hypotension. Whenever you stand you became giddy and palpitations which may be relieved by lying down position.

So immediately you have to check your blood pressure on lying down position and standing position. Get an ECG then consult your physician he will examine and treat you with dose reduction or alternate medication.
