What Causes Dizziness And Pain In Back Of Head After A Fall?

Hi, I slipped off d bottom step yesterday, landed with my bottom and hit my upper back (around my breast) hard on d edge of the step. I felt dizzy at first with aches at d back of my head.What should I do before I get to see the doctor because it s weekend

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dizziness and pain in back of head after a fall . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo , post traumatic , meniere’s disease, also sometimes called hydrops , post-traumatic , migraine and cervical vertigo . Back pain occur due to reasons like muscle stain , compressed fracture and disc slip . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI or x -ray to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , vitamin supplement , recommend physical therapy and restrict particular movements . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist or ENT specialist in case of dizziness . For now apply warm compresses to back , avoid bending forward , take ibuprofen or acetaminiphen for pain and drink green tea thrice a day .
