Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness And Nausea Upon Movement Of Head Post Tympanoplasty?
I had two tympanoplasty surgeries when I was 12-13 years old. Since then I experience motion sickness fairly often/easily. But lately it has become debilitating. I become very dizzy and nauseous when I move my head from side to side or even just move my eyes from side to side. I have to lay down with my eyes closed for several minutes and even then, the effects last for hours.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain dizziness and nausea on moving my head side to side and even moving the eyes can be due to causes like Inner ear infection, Meniere's disease, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, severe motion sickness, Cervical spondylosis etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, MRI SCAN of ear and cervical column, blood tests etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to wear neck support straps and medical therapy with Betahistine.. Avoid sudden jerky neck movements and take sufficient rest..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
