What Causes Dizziness And Fluid In The Ear After A 7-day-cruise?

Yes, I recently returned from a 7 day cruise, and it was celebrating one year after Chemo and Radiation for Stage II Breast Cancer. When I arrived home, I felt dizzy and like I was on a wave. I still feel this way after three weeks, I had fluid in my ears and donot know how that occurred as I never had any under water time. I went to see an ENT....and he thought I should get an MRI on my head. I guess to be safe, but what if it is just Vertigo from the uncalm seas and my fragile state after a rough year? Any suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to pressure changes and will settle by itself. As a first line management, you can take drugs like betahistine for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
