What Causes Dizziness And Eye Discomfort After Taking Depakote?
Hi. I was wondering how long it can take to get a side affect of a medication. My daughter was started on Depakote and progressively has started head bobbing and squeezing her eyes open closed. We are in the process of a very slow ween of the medication, but I was wondering why it took abt a month to start and is progressively getting worse. Don t side affects start quickly? Or can it take a month or more? Thanks!

Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like middle ear infection , labyrinthitis ,sinusitis , diabetes, type 2 , high blood pressure and anemia, iron deficiency . It can also occur due to side effects of certain medicine like depakote as you mention in query . I would suggest you to consult neurologist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI along with other test to confirm the diagnosis and ruel out other conditions . Doctor may prescribe medicines like vasograine or may refer you to ENT specialist for sinusitis or ear problem . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics anti emetic drug . For now avoid bending forward and take ibuprofen for pain .
