What Causes Dizziness And Diarrhea After Having A Tooth Filling?

Hi, my mom went to our new dentist on Wednesday for a filling, she said the dentist used 3 needles to numb her mouth. When she came home she said she was feeling a little sick and this continued yesterday. Today she has had to leave work because she is feeling extremely nauseous and dizzy - so dizzy she is finding it hard to walk - she also has diarrhoea and been sick a few times since she has been home. I ve asked her if she wants to go to see a doctor but she said she does not feel like she would be able to get there. What should I do?

Hello,

All these symptoms are related to adverse side effects with the anesthetic agent used in dental workups.

I suggest you visit your doctor immediately if these symptoms persist since the local anesthetic agent remains in body for 2 hours maximum and still your mother has symptoms relating to the drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr SAMEEN BIN NAEEM, General & Family Physician
