What Causes Dizziness And A Lump At Back Of Head After Injury?

Hi there, my 5yr old daughter fell and hit the back of her head nearly two weeks ago. At the time she was shaken up but ok in herself, no signs of concussion & we used a cold compress for her head, with very little lump / bruising. A week later she started complaining she kept feeling dizzy & her legs felt wobbly. I took her to the docs, he checked her over, looked in her ears, throat & felt her head & said she appeared fine & it may just be a virus. It s now 4 days later & she s still having episodes where her legs give out & she feels dizzy. It s really worrying me, what should I do? Thank you. Mrs King

Hello Mrs King,

Welcome to Health Care Magic. I have gone through your query and I understand your concern.

As your daughters treating doctor has mentioned, it might be just a viral condition, which is not related to the fell your daughter suffered.
What do you mean that her legs give out?
I don't think that you might have something to worry, but with such a presentation on my clinic, in order to exclude any possible subdural hematoma, I would recommend your daughter undergoes a head imaging with computed tomography (CT scan).

I hope I answered to your question. For further concerns feel free to ask again.

Kind Regards,
Dr. Ina Zaimi
