What Causes Dizziness Along With Breathing Difficulty And Body Tremors?

My husband just had an episode of feeling cold, light headed dizziness, breakfast spell of difficulty breathing, tremors and shakes. I checked his blood pressure it was 156/98, temperature 96.5, and blood sugar 96. He said he just felt weird, but I think it scared him a little. He seems to be over it now. Just curious what it could have been.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear. His Blood pressure is bit high. Normal blood pressure is 120/80 and below. Between 120/80 to 140/90 we call it as prehypertension, a stage before hypertension. BP above 140/90 is called hypertension. Your husband has hypertension which might be the reason for dizziness, tremors and other symptoms.

Ask your husband to consult a doctor and recheck the BP. If it is high and he is not on any medications then the doctor may start medications like amlodipine or aten or losartan etc. Sometimes doctor may also suggest some lifestyle modifications for few days before starting medications.

1. Losing weight if you are overweight or obese

2. Quitting smoking

3. Eating a healthy diet, including the DASH diet (eating more fruits, vegetables, and low fat dairy products, less saturated and total fat)

4. Reducing the amount of sodium in your diet to less than 1,500 milligrams a day if you have high blood pressure; healthy adults should try to limit their sodium intake to no more 2,300 milligrams a day (about 1 teaspoon of salt).

5. Getting regular aerobic exercise (such as brisk walking at least 30 minutes a day, several days a week)

6. Limiting alcohol to two drinks a day for men, one drink a day for women

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
