What Causes Dizziness After Taking Apixaban?

I experienced frequent dizziness after starting apixabam ( for afib) in addition to 81 mg aspirin. After suspending the aspirin, the episodes of dizziness went away. I understand that the dizziness may have been a symptom of interaction of aspirin and apixabam, that aspirin in combination with apixabam increases risk of bleeding and stroke. Perhaps the aspirin suspension should be permanent?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)your problem is not due to medications so continue with it as per your treating Doctor's advice.

2)Discuss with your Doctor about [antiarrhythmics]medications and if already taking then dose adjustment required . To control heart rate at rest discuss [digoxin].

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Try to eat a heart-healthy diet

2)Try to increase your physical activity

3)Try to avoid smoking

4)Keeping a healthy weight

5)Try to avoid caffeine and alcohol

6)Try to reduce stress, as intense stress and anger can cause heart rhythm problems

7)Using OTC medications with caution, as some cold and cough medications contain stimulants that may trigger a rapid heartbeat

Hope that helps
