What Causes Dizziness After Ear Piercing?

My 12yr old daughter got her ears pierced 3 1/2 weeks ago and her ear got infected. It had puss coming out. We cleaned it out with peroxide and put the earring back in. Right after I did that she got really dizzy and I had to catch her. She said she saw black lines. She was fine after a few mins. That all happened a couple of hours ago. I just took her earring out again before bed to clean it out again and after putting the earring in her ear she got dizzy again, I had to catch her and she wet herself unknowingly. This time she said it felt like she was dreaming. I sat her down and in a couple of minutes she was fine again and since...it s been about 1/2 hour since this happened. Do you know why this would happen and what I should do?

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your daughter.

As per your history the syncope or transient unconsciousness is related to removal of earrings but to me it is related to pain.
In some cases the severe pain (in your case the infection of ear) stimulate the vagus nerve and causes syncope. Because the syncope is associated with particular situation you must avoid the removal and wearing of repeated episodes of earing.

As your daughter is also having pus that means she is suffering with bacterial infection. She must take antibiotics too in consultation with physician, like Ofloxicin 100 mg if she is not allergic to it or is not taking any other medication. Also keel the earrings clean as well as the ear lobe..

In case the episodes of syncope increases more you may need to visit an ER.
Hope my answer will be helpful to you. In case any further queries you can write back to us.

Regards
