Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend was stung in his throat by a bee. Apparently the bee was in his drink outside and my friend did not notice it. It was an hour ago and he is feeling a little dizzy, but other than that, no symptoms. Do you think it s ok for him to just take some Benadryl and wait to see what happens?
The most commom reactions after a bee sting are redness, Itching , swelling and pain. Now , sometimes after a bee/wasp sting , patient may develop severe allergic reactions such as severe swelling of face, lips , throat or breathing difficulty or ,as you said dizziness. So , taking Benadryl for the moment may help . But monitoring of the patient is necessary . Consult your local physician immediately in case of breathing difficulty, nausea or vomitting , diarrhea, stomach cramps, hives or itching in areas of the body not affected by the sting or increased breathing difficulty .
Most importantly , do not panic . Hope this helps. Regards, Dr Pallavi Jain MBBS, MD (Biochemistry)
