What Causes Disorientation And Confusion While On Oxycontin?
My 98 year old mother has been having back pain for the last few years. Her Primary Dr prescribed 5 mg of Oxycontin once per day and recently I noticed that she is taking 5 mg of Oxycontin 3x per day. She has been having problems with being disoriented, confused and seeing things . Concerened about the possible negative consequences of the drug.
Hello, Oxycodone should be taken in the exact prescribed doses. Because exceeding the dose may cause some of the side effects listed in the product literature. Since the patient is of 98 years, where the pharmacokinetics can be different in elderly. Since she has been taking more than the recommended quantity, it is possible that the symptoms mentioned are being caused by that drug. It is better to get her to stick the recommended dose. Thanks.
