Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Discomfort In Nose, Throat And Chest Along With Clogged Ears?
I have been sick for over a week. It started in my nose and throat. Then moved into my chest. No sinus congestion just back congestion in my ears like I m underwater and can t clear my ears. I sound like an old smoker when I cough yet I have not smoke a day in my life. In a 39 year old women.
Your symptoms are suggestive of an upper respiratory tract infection. Antibiotics and anti-histamines should be taken to reduce the infection. Steam inhalation and salt water gargling should be done to reduce congestion and sore throat. Any excess ear wax should be removed. Antibiotic ear drops should be used twice or thrice a day to reduce ear congestion.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
