What Causes Discoloration Around An Indentation On The Forehead?

Hi! I have always had an indent in my forehead (a vertical indent on the left side of my forehead) It has been there since birth and up until a few years ago, there has been no discolouration or visibilty. Recently, the skin along the indent has gotten a lot darker and it now appears as a dark line on my forehead. Is there any way of lightening the skin or reversing the discolouration? Hi,
The term used for the darkening of the skin is called hyperpigmentation. Truly there are cells in our skin that produce substances which makes the surface appears dark. There are two reasons for the same,
1. Condition from birth causing darkening called as congenital and
2. increased activation of the cells producing darkening substance called Melanin.
The hyperactivity of cells are due to sun exposure, post traumatic, acne induced and some medicines occasionally.
Don't worry it can be prevented by using sun creams particularly with SPF(Sun Protection Factor)30 and above. You should also know that the layer of dead cells also looks dark but that layer sheds of themselves. Beware of the fact that recurrent picking of the skin makes the skin dark. Don't use any steroid creams unnecessarily. If you can, photo that changes to me. Hope your problem get corrected soon.
