What Causes Dime Sized White Sore On Side Of Tounge Which Is Painful?

I am suffering from a dime sized white sore on the side of my tongue. Its VERY painful red and swollen. I have had it now for almost a month. I went to my dentist about a week or so ago he said it looked like a cancer sore but since then it has gotten bigger and much more painful. I am unable to talk eat and its very hard to drink.. what can I do and what could be causing this? Ive tried otc pain meds and oral numbing products but nothing is helping. And I just finished a round of antibiotics. Please help!

Hi
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I reviewed your history.
These symptoms indicate ulcer of the tongue. We need to rule out common causes like aphthous ulcer and infection. The treatment is mainly by the use of antispetics and analgesic gels.

Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for further treatment.

Hope this is helpful to you.
Please do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
