What Causes Difficulty While Swallowing?

Hello Dr. I have a problem with my throat, it started off a few days ago with a feeling of a hair stuck down my throat, which lasted a couple of days. It then began feeling like there was something bigger stuck in my throat, like a pill that is not swallowed properly. I looked in the mirror and I can see my epiglottis sticking up at the back of my throat when I say AAAAA . It started getting worse today and i am having trouble swallowing saliva. I have not tried eating yet, but i think it may be uncomfortable.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

We have to rule out possible causes like lump or obstruction over the innermost part of the throat or base of the tongue. Another possibility is severe acid reflux. As of now, you can take antacids like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
