What Causes Difficulty In Urinating?

Hi- thanks for helping me. I recently went to the doctor for increased water in my legs (heavy legs). My weight has increased 20 lbs in the last 6 weeks. My family doctor gave me an EKG that they said had some abnormalities. They sent me to the ER where tests proved negative but I am awaiting an echocardiogram. But along with this my penis has practically vanished. I have real trouble urinating-- not sure where it is going and I have trouble even holding my penis to urinate. I sometimes leak a little during the day and the urge to urinate comes real fast. What do you think? OK revising now.....really? Very disappointed to see that someone looking for a buck....sorry I even visited.

Hi,

I have read your query, increased water in your legs is what we medically term as edema. Pedal edema could be of three main causes:
1) cardiac,
2) renal,
3) hepatic and there are other causes too.

Your doctor took an EKG suspecting a cardiac cause, however, an ECHO will help to rule out the cause. Edema and trouble urinating is more in favour of renal pathology as per me but we cannot conclude anything unless and otherwise its proved by appropriate investigation. Let me suggest you few things:
1) Keep your legs elevated while sleeping you can keep one or two pillows for it, it will help you to reduce the swelling.
2) Reduce the salt in your diet.
3) Do mild to moderate exercise.
4) Get your ECHO and as per your doctor's suggestion.
5) I will suggest an anti-inflammatory agent containing Trypsin, Chymotrypsin and Rutoside, it works well with edematous swellings.
6) Treat the root cause your edema will subside and your urine output will return to normal.
7) Urine urgency/hesitancy can be seen in two conditions one is UTI and another one is prostate hypertrophy for which we need further history and physical examination to conclude.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Moses John Wesley,
