What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing?

I have a patient who has a very large tongue, making it difficult to swollow. It has been this way for the past 8 years. She takes Repiradone, lipitor, wellbutrin and prilosec. Could these drugs cause such a thing. I cannot find anything when I research it myself. Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I have gone through the drug list you have mentioned.
None of these can cause giant tongue.
Actually there is no need for searching the cause because treatment won't be differ with cause.
The only available treatment is surgical correction.
So better to take her to oral surgeon and discuss about need of surgery in her.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
