What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing?

For the past few days now I have been having problems with my throat, swallowing, I have had thyroid problems for years, they have been highly over active, now it seems they have gone the other way for test that I have had done. But these days it hurts right in that area, it feels like my throats is closing up,

There must be swelling of the glands most probably because of infection.If its causing difficulty in swallowing you should consult a doctor for antibiotics.If after further examinations the doctors advice for surgery then you might think that option as well as you said you had this problem related to thyroid repeatedly.
