My dad is 91 and for over a year now He hasnt been able to speak. All the tests were done that ruled out any strokes or neurological issues. He also had the swallow test which concluded that he should use thick it added to his liquids . We have been doing this up til now but it is gettig harder and harder to swallow. The neurologist suggested that he be put on a feeding tube but he will have no part of it. I have been told about the risk of developing pneumonia if it goes down the wrong way and enters the lung. He has been coughing for past several days and it sounds like there is fluid in with the cough.He doesn t have a temperature but his blood pressure is 96 over 51. He doesnt want to go to the dr. but should I make him go anyway.?
