What Causes Difficulty In Movement Of Index Finger And Knuckle Pain In A Diabetic Person?

Hello, I am a 61 YO Male with Type 2 diabetes, and have just returned from driving a 13 day 2000+ mile road 4 State trip with my wife and two teen grand-children. While driving one of the last days (5 days ago), I found that I could not extend the tip of my index finger on my right hand (as if the tendon has contracted). Their is nominal pain at the first knuckle and I do have normal sensation at the finger tip.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to tendinitis which is an inflammation of the tendon in the finger.
I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain.
I also suggest using cold compresses for local application and maintain the finger immobilized to prevent further damage.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
