What Causes Difficulty In Left Arm Movement Despite A Surgery For Humorous Fracture?
My left arm humurous mid shaft broken nine months ago into three or more pieces and a steel plate have been implanted after due surgery. My arm was kept immobilized by chest immobolizer. I could not able to move my left above my shoulder till now. Other doctor advised me to re-implant the plate again as it is not been put in right position and it is shifting away from the shaft bone. In my X-ray report development of bone is seen clearly and I can hold any item upto 5-10 Kg with my left arm but could not move forward or above my shoulder. Kindly advice me.
The inability to move forward or above shoulder indicates partial recovery from the fracture healing area where certain ligaments or nerves may not be functioning to best pace and extent. Revision surgery issue needs to be evaluated with recent CT scan images of the operated part for better precision guidelines. But without that also, I do favor revision surgery if possible to give best results than this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
