What Causes Difficulty In Breathing While On Prednisone?

I had a classic allergy reaction to Avalox...hives, difficulty breathing, red all over...was taken by ambulance to ER and they gave me intravenous prednisone. I am about to have breast surgery and the surgeon talked about Keflex after the surgery. Is it related to Avalox and is it safe for me to take it?

Hello,

Keflex drug is not related to Avalox drug. Avalox is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic and Keflex is a cephalosporin.

Having a reaction to Avalox does not make it more likely that you would have a reaction to Keflex. Good luck with your surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kathy Robinson
