Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i had a left breast mastectomy 15 years ago and i saw my nephrologist today routine check up he seemed very concerned when he took my bp in my left are bp was very low and so was my pulse but in my rt. arm was normal wants me to have a ct scan to rule out a blockage is it normal for the bp to different in my lt arm due to the mastectomy this is the first time any physician has noticed this i am very much concerned
hello madam.. there are multiple causes for the pressure difference between both arms.. it can be due to.. blood vessel compression by structures like muscle or bone tear inside the artery clots in the blood vessel(more common in elderly) but you need not worry...there is treatment for everything.. what was the report of the scan? if it is due to clot it can be dissolved by using medication..other causes are unlikely.. in SIGNIFICANT NUMBER of patients there is a mild difference between two arms WITHOUT any reason.. so don't worry..if you can upload the report of scan i would be able to explain you..
