What Causes Diarrhoea Along With White Specks In An Infant?
Hi. I have an 8 month old baby, who just started crawling about 3 weeks ago. He s fed by formula and baby food. He s now had diarrhea with white specks in it for 3 days (at first I thought it was seedy, then I rememebered seedy is normal for breastfeeding babies) It smells sour. I also have a cat (strictly indoors) who s now had diarrhea with streaks of blood for 4 days. My son has 2 older siblings who walk on my carpet with their shoes on (its always been a rule of mine to take them off). I m afraid something was tracked into my house that my baby and cat somehow ingested.

I have a years long experience to treat such patients successfully and I want to reassure you that there is nothing to worry. Crawling babies try to taste everyhing in front of them to satisfy their curiosity of the external world. They eat something or lick something thats contaminated and end up in disturbed digestive system.
Keep your cat away from your kid at least for the time both of them get well. Immediately start Pedialite so that baby doesn't dehydrate. Don't let the baby crawl alone. Supervise the baby strictly.
Consult paediatrician immediately to see if baby needs some other medications after thorough examination and checkup.
