What Causes Diarrhea?

Im visiting my sons family here in Arizona (Valle Verde) we have all been struck with some stomach bug. We thought the kids were past it but the little one has started all over. Again. My son cannot stop the diarreah and the oder of his gas is overpowering. We ge been to the er and clinic with my granddaughter and anti nausea mere were what she was given. What is this. We are taking all precautions

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of all the family getting stuck with some sort of stomach bug and have been to ER but given only anti-nausea treatment.
This looks to be due to one of the following causes:

The water or food source getting infected.
Or can be due to viral infection of the stomach having all infected/affected.
I would advise you hte following:
Stool and blood tests help to differentiate the bacterial and viral infection.
If it shows bacterial infection you all need an antibiotic and supportive treatment.
Activated charcoal and probiotics needs to be taken.
Maintain hydration and electrolyte balances properly.
Get the water tested and rectified the problems if any.
