What Causes Diarrhea And Sharp Pains Under Rib Cage?

I've been traveling and was experiencing diarreah and sharp pains under my rib (both sides) and just assumed it was from eating something that did not agree with me. My stomach has settled but the pains are still coming and going. It has persisted now for 48 hours, what could this be?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Travellers diarrhea is a well known cause of pain and diarrhea on travelling.
This can be controlled by an antibiotic active against intestinal infection and Metronidazole for about 5 days.
Probiotics, curds/yogurt, banana and activated charcoal tablets helps further.
Use only boiled and cooled water along with homemade fresh food only to avoid further contamination .
Plenty of oral fluids and electrolyte solution to control dehydration.
Take care next time when you go for travelling.
