What Causes Delayed Speech And Fine Motor Skills In A Child?

Hi. My daughter has a rare chromosome duplication of 17q 11.1-11.2. It has cause developmental delays I m speech, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills. She is also behind cognitively. She is 8 yrs old now, and has some autistic like characteristics. I was told she is the only one (as of now) they have found with this duplication. Do you have any insight to this diagnosis ?

I went through your details. Of course, this is rarest of the rare chromosomal duplication. But at the same time, this duplication is not that problematic too. Other chromosomal dupication like 18.1 and 18 could spell more trouble. The developmenta delays in your child's case could be corrected with the use of proper training methodologies.
