What Causes Delayed Periods?

Hi doctor, I missed my period this month..it was due on 8th..l am a week late..this month on 1st I had spotting..my last month period also wasn t heavy like usual.l..it lasted for 3 days.. whereas my regular cycle is for 5 to 6 days..my home pregnancy test showed negative twice..doctor says that my uterine walls are thick..does that means I am pregnant?

Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
The first diagnosis of delayed period is pregnancy. Please repeat pregnancy test after a week.
If pregnancy test is -ve again the delay can be due to Hormonal imbalance due to ovarian or thyroid problem / pcod... an ovulation problem causing irregular period/fibroid uterus .
Hormonal assessment/usg abdomen would pin point the cause.
