What Causes Delayed Periods With Pink Vaginal Spotting And Abdominal Pain?

I had a miscarriage last month 24 days ago. I have not had a period yet. I have had unprotected sex with my husband since I stopped bleeding from miscarriage. I am now having abdominal soreness and cramps earlier today I noticed a string discharge and one side almost looked pink tinged. Could this be infection? Or possible pregnancy?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Bleeding after miscarriage can continue up to 7 to 10 days. Pink colored discharge can occur when blood is mixed with cervical fluids which is usually normal. Any bleeding continuing longer than 3 weeks or excess discharge with foul smell should be treated immediately. Pregnancy should be ruled out by a urine test by 2 weeks after intercourse in order to get a reliable result.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
