I missed my period for two days now.i have been have sex with my husband but he uses the withdrawal method but on one occassion,he withdrew cleaned with a piece of clothe and continued sex.i tookone tablet of postinor 2 after the incident. What could be the cause of the delay in my menses?could i be pregnant?note that i have had sex twice even after the one tablet i took but hubby still withdrew.
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Withdrawal method has a high failure rate and hence chances of becoming pregnant are high. Since you have taken Postinor 2, it is better and you can expect protection against pregnancy.
Postinor 2 is an emergency contraceptive pill. For its effective action, earlier it is taken, it would be better. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of the act. The pill should protect against pregnancy by causing withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of its intake. If you do not get your periods by 3 weeks, you need to take urine pregnancy test and seek medical attention promptly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
