What Causes Delayed Periods After Stopping Birth Control Pills?

Hello! I was on birth control for about 8 months and about a month ago i stopped taking it...my last period started on december 5th and i still haven’t got my period, now in january.. I was wondering if i should be worried or if this is just a side effect of the pill?

Detailed answer: When you stop birth control methods, your body needs some time to adapt to the new situation and start producing its hormones regularly. This period is very different from woman to woman.
Therefore, your period will return. It will take up to three months for your body to take on its natural regular rhythm. Your period on december was not really "a period" but the so-called withdrawal bleed. The next bleeding will be your first true period after birth control stop.
