What Causes Delayed Menstruation With A History Of UTI?

My last periods date was 1st august and now my period is being delayed this month..i am sexually active and after missing the periods i have taken the home pregnancy test twice and the results were negative. But i dont know as to why my periods are late? Previous month i suffered from UTI which was a minor one and became normal after some antibiotics. Does this causes late period?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Urinary infections do not cause delay of menstrual periods. It happens sometimes that periods may be late without an apparent cause. As long as the pregnancy test is negative you may just observe them in the next month.
If you get no periods in the next month then you will need to see a doctor.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician.
