What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Taking Ipill After Having Sex?

hii i am rocky, my gf has take ipill at 16 november 2015 she didnt get periods till now, she went to the doctor this last monday n the doctor hane her medicine n tell that wait till 18 jan this coming monday if u dint not get periods u come to for a checkup n for sonography i am getting nervious, in the reports they show that he has taken an ipill?? or what other thimg is responsoble ???

Thanks for posting in HCM.
i pill is an emergency contraceptive pill. It would prevent unwanted or accidental pregnancy when it is taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Earlier it is taken, protection seems to be better.
It would prevent pregnancy by causing withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of intake of the pill.
In case the bleeding does not happen by 3 weeks, you need to seek medical attention immediately as there could a chance of failure of the pill to prevent pregnancy. The failure rate of such emergency contraceptive pills is about 10 to 15%.
The pregnancy needs to be detected by means of urine pregnancy test and confirmed by clinical as well as ultrasound scan. In case it is positive, next mode of approach for its termination needs to be worked out and done accordingly.
