Hello ,
Read your concern.
Chlamydia infects the reproductive system as a whole , so may have direct and indirect effects on a woman s reproductive processes as well. As far as its effects in menstrual cycle is conceerned, it appears to have indirect effects on your periods. Chlamydia can cause other health issues that can cause irregularities of your menstrual cycle.
1.Untreated
Chlamydia infection can result in blockage of the
fallopian tube leading to infertilty and may also increase the risk of ectopic
pregnancy. Also infection may lead to heavier periods. This inturn may lead to stress and
anxiety and may lead to a delayed period cycle.
2. Also Chlamydia may cause bleeding between two menstrual periods(Spotting)
These are the only two ways Clamydia affects the menstrual cycle.
Though Chlamydia infection causes
infertility, getting a urinary pregnancy test wouldnt be a wrong bet as you have missed two cycles
Further, i would advice you to consult your case with your gynaecologist as well.
Thanking you,
Hope this helps.
Follow up questions would be welcome
