What Causes Delay In Periods After Discontinuing Meprate?
Hi.Last month I had continuous periods for 15 days(never had like this before). On day 10 gynaecologist gave tablet- tragic twice a day for five days. But periods continued. On day 15 after injection periods stopped and gynaecologist advice to take meprate for next 15 days ( I forgot to take continuously, might be here and there for 2-3 days and had slight spotting by that time)and told once on withdrawal of tablet, I will get my periods again. But it since 20 days I have stopped meprate, still I didn t get my periods. What could be the reason for not getting periods Regards
The over suppression of hypothalamus pituitary axis via Meprate tablet is responsible for the absence of periods over a time of 20 days. In my clinic, I do recommend to wait and watch for normalization of the hormone axis on physiologic basis rather than inducing menses which would be again of high quantity.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
