Hi, my name is Ruth, I had been sick for quite a long time. It happened over months, eating then slowly eating less, then less not drinking as much fluids as I should. Then I got to where I was eating anything but maybe a cup of broth a day w/a nutritional shake which, I would vommit. Then it got to where I couldn t keep water down, I was falling all the time even w/my walker. There wasn t a place on my body that didn t have big deep purple and black bruises all over every inch of my body. Dec. 4th my brother called the ambulance because I had fallen over my bedside cammode twice then fell into my old antique dresser and hit my head hard. Iwound up with a big red mark and lump on my head down the side of my face and the biggest black eye youv ever seen. I was jerking all over the place, nodding out but waking right back up, vommitting all over, wetting myself, which I have no rememerance of that part, most everything else I seem to remember. I was in ER all evening into the night by 8am the 5th they got me into ICU. I thought for sure I was dying as it turned out I actually came really close. They admitted me for dangerously low potassium, magnesium, electrolytes. brain disease and when they did a cat scan they found I had vascular changes in my brain. The whole while I hospitalized my doctor never mentioned any of this to me. I didn t find out until I was being rushed out of there to sign my release papers and I saw what I was admitted for and the test results. The doctor in the hospital said he was sending a fax to bot my family doctor and my specialist, I have numerous medical problems before this. My family doctor said he never received anything so when I went to my specialist he had all my records from my hospital stay.I asked him about all the prolems I was having, confusion, staring off for hrs. at a time not realizing it til someone would get my attention, jerkiness, shaking, couldn t write anymore or see well, still can t altho my writing has gotten better. The constant weird feeling in my had like my brain is moving around in there banging against my skull. Nausea, not being able to eat, vomitting so he put me on some medication for that. He put on 2 other meds and said to take them religiously and that would help, which it has to some degree. I still have many of the symptoms, nausea, vomitting, can t eat or sleep right, the jerkiness sometimes, shakey. I have called and talked with Pam his nurse and when she calls back she says the doctor says give it time. This has been going since Dec. I ve lost so much weight.
