What Causes Decreased Heart Rate?

My daughter has a heart rate of 45. It is usually 65. She has had all normal test results including an ECHO cardiogram. She does show very mild arrythmia on her EKG. She is healthy, runs approx. 6 miles a week and does yoga. Any ideas? YYYY@YYYY

If your daughter has undergone, ECHO, EKG, Treadmill test, and Cardiac evaluation by a Cardiologist and is certified fit from the cardiac side, this low heart rate can be explained due to her athletic activity. With moderate to severe physical activity, the heart ventricles dilate, and the cardiac muscles strengthen, leading to a lower heart rate at rest. This is a normal physiological finding.
