What Causes Decrease In The Lung Capacity After Taking Depakote?

I started taking Depakote for Trigeminal Neuralgia and it is working very well in controlling the pain. I have worked out at the gym 3-4 times a week for the past 3 years. Since starting on Depakote, I have noticed a decrease in lung capacity or sustained breathing strength when exercising. Is this a side effect? I ve been taking it for 3.5 weeks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is not related to Depakote, consult a physician and plan for a spirometer and echo test to rule out cardiac and lung-related problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
