Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a skin change on my leg. I had a dark color freckle that became bigger, itchy and now is no longer flat. There is a darker area like a pinpint in the middle and the edges are not round. Not itchy any more. Should I be worried about cancer? What is this?
Thank you for following up. I understand these sports cause concern, especially when they suddenly become itchy. For veification of diagnosis you should consult dermatologist.Common types of dark spots include freckles, moles and age spots. It is usually harmless. Some sports are round and raised as seen in seborrheic keratoses and dermatofibromas; others, such as tinea versicolor, are flat. Some spots can have a patchy appearance such as lichen planus; others, such as age spots or melanomas, can have irregular borders. Due long standing some irregular brown sports can occur, it is haemochromatosis, for that we don't have real treatment, just nicotinamide and local therapy by iodine. Take care! Kind regards I wish you good luck and good health! Dr.Sagar Gaurav Shrivastva
