What is the problem with my feet and legs? I have a dark discoloration of my left foot up to 2 inches above my ankle and my right foot up to the ankle. I have a burning, aching and numb sensation on my left foot and leg. It increases with exercise. I have varicose veins, and I had a severe pain behind my left knee that lasted about 5 minutes. Days later, I noticed those veins were flat. I have small arteries and veins. I have been diagnose as pre-diabetic with no meds. Blood work reports good circulation, but high cholesterol. I take Simvastatin 10mg.
Dark discolouration of your skin may be due to extravasation of blood due to vericose veins. There is production of pigment known as himosedirin which causes pigmentation. To prevent this you must elevate your legs while you sleep. Also avoid prolonged standing.Tablet vitamin c and pentoxyphiline may be started after consulting your doctor.Regards.
