What Causes Dark Coloured Urination?

I had my gallbladder out in December 2014. Lost weight and felt great. After about a year I was eating what I wanted without issue. But also noticed in the same year that my urine was dark unless I drank an abundance of water. I don t drink a lot of water and have always been told I stay dehydrated. But I never had the urine color issue until about a year after the surgery. I also get pains in my shoulder like when I had my gallbladder and stone issue. The urine color is like having a blocked tube from the liver to the gallbladder by a gallstone when having your gallbladder but once again can clear up with drinking a lot of water. One soda and its orange again.
