What Causes Dark Brown Vaginal Spotting After Taking Contraceptive Pill?

Hey, I had unprotected sex with my husband on 3rd day of my period. I took ecp after 1 hour. My bleeding stopped for the next 2 days and then I m having dark brownish spotting at some time of the day (not regularly) even after 6 days. Is it normal?Do I have any chances of getting pregnant?

Hello,
Thank you for your query.

No, it is highly unlikely that pregnancy will result as the time you had intercourse was during your period which is far away from the ovulation time (more than a week away), provided your cycles are regular.

Taking Contraceptive pills can affect your hormones and result in irregular bleeding and spotting.

There is nothing to worry. It should normalize soon.
In case, spotting continues more than a week or increases in quantity, or if it recurs next month as welk see your OBGYN.

In a 30 day cycle, a lady usually ovulate between day 10 to 18. This will differ from person to person and between cycles as well.
The luteal phase (after ovulation) is between 10-16 days but remains relatively constant for an individual.
After a day of ovulation, you cannot get pregnant as the egg survives only for a day.
Monitoring your basal body temperature can help tell you when you ovulate and how long your luteal phase is. This can help determine your safe period and your fertile period (for when you want to get pregnant).

Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Best wishes.
