What Causes Dark And Foul Smelling Bowel Movement In A Child?

Hi my 5 yr old son has had a strong sour_smelling dark stool the past 10 days.. barely about 3-4 days ago he developed a high body fever that felt over 103 for a whole day plus he complained of stomach pain and seemed like he was going to faint whenever he got up.. Tylenol helped for a short while... past 2 days he s back to his hyper little self but still had dark stool... he awoke from his sleep to go to the bathroom and it was a raw ground beef looking like stool...hes also had occasional eye redness and puffiness. Every day it s a different eye for the past 5 days or so and the entrance of his little nose looks like there s a bit if dried blood but I ve never seen him have a bloody nose before... what do I do? He s been drinking plenty of water.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your child.

As per the symptoms of your boy it seems to me he is suffering with mold upper GI bleed. The symptoms like black stools (Terry black), stomach pain and fainting are the symptoms of upper GI bleed.

You need to check the stools if it is shiny black, puffiness is also a cause of low hemoglobin in body which can also be connected to GI bleed, including faintness.

If your above symptoms are aggravating day by day you need to visit a pediatric surgeon for further help.

Hope my answer will be helpful to you and revert back to us further if you feel any further assistance needed.
Regards
