What Causes Cuts On Tonsils?

I m in military tech training and I ve picked up smokeless tobacco for about 2 months now. I ve noticed I have cuts, or that s what they look like, on my tonsils in the back corner of my mouth right beside my ugula (punching bag looking thing in your mouth). I was wondering what these cuts could be?

Hello
Those spaces are called Tonsillar Krypts.
They are harmless anatomical variations of tonsils. Occasionally food particles get lodged in these and cause infection. Regular salt gargling will help.
