What Causes Crunching Sound In Knee?

I hear a crunching sound in my knee when I bend it, and there is a slight ache and burning sensation. It feels fine while I am on my feet, but as soon as I sit down and try to get up, it feels as though it s going to pop or lock. What is causing that to happen?

hello,
from the history given, the first thing which comes in to mind is injury to the meniscus in the knee joint.
there are two menisci in the knee joint, medial and lateral.
during some exercise or heavy strain over the knee one or both of them might have got injured- torn.
the classical presentation of such condition is crunching sound from the knee joint while bending it.
during up right posture, those menisci are stable so not bothering,
they come in play while bending knee, so you get some pain or the crunching sound.
and yes, if the torn menisci get in such a position during the movement of the knee joint that it get stuck, the knee gets lock.
i would suggest you that you better would seek an opinion of orthopedician.
thank you.
