What Causes Cramping In Hands And Legs While On Potassium Supplements?
My mom is taking daily: amlodipine besylate, losartan potassium HC, AND a potassium supplement is it possible she is getting too much potassium? she has terrible cramping in her hands and legs, and I thought I saw somewhere that ace inhibitor shouldn t be taken w/potassium?
All this hypertensive drugs has a side effect of hypokalemia means low potassium inside body and because of which doctor advises to take potassium supplements.
Your mother has leg and hand cramps could be due to low potassium inside blood.
For that, she can do blood gets for serum potassium content.
She must take more coconut water which is a rich source of potassium with syrup potklor 2 TSF two times daily which will be available over the counter to replenish the potassium store.
If still problem remains then it would be advisable to see nearby physician for further care.
