What Causes Cramping In Calf, Foot And Hand?

experiencing calf, foot, and hand cramping. 1st time about a month ago when taking terazosin and phenazopyridine. After the 5th night of nearly hourly calf & foot cramp attacks lasting 5 to 10 minutes, I suspended the terazosin. No more cramps. My urologist gave me Rapaflo instead and I ve been on that for 8 nights. Today, minor cramps in my hands and feet kept threatening to get worse but if I rubbed the affected area, the distorted, almost semi=paralysis would dissipate. My urologist was puzzled by this reaction. Any ideas ?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have cramping in calf, foot and hand. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like dehydration , spinal nerve compression , alcoholism , kidney failure , hypothyroidism or vitamin E deficiency . I would suggest you to keep yourself hydrated , take proper rest and eat healthy along with light exercises . If condition doesn't get well then consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like blood test , nerve conduction test CT scan of spine or physical examination . Doctor may recommend physical therapy specially for spine , muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory , vitamin supplement or may refer you to nephrologist for kidney problem .
