What Causes Cracks On Tongue?

Hi, two days ago i woke up with small cracks on the right hand side of my tongue, they started to go down yetserday, but woke up this morning and theyve come back up and got slightly worse. My tongue is not swollen and the cracks are not painful. Was just wondering if you could tell me what they could be?

Thank you x

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain small cracks over the tongue can be due to a condition known as Fissured tongue leading to formation of painless grooves over the tongue..
The exact cause of it is although unknown but it is commonly considered genetic in origin..
As you already do not have any pain I would suggest you to maintain a good oral hygiene and do not let any food accumulation in the cracks as it can lead to infection..
You should always gargle after meals and use antimicrobial mouthwash for gargling..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
